Every year, 95 million people are affected by natural disasters across the world. During a crisis, vulnerable populations struggle to meet their basic needs. Without clean water, children and their families are susceptible to death due to common avoidable waterborne diseases like diarrhea. Our simple and strategic intervention aims to prevent the loss of more lives by bringing safe drinking water to communities in need.

Inspired by the design of a bicycle pump, these water filters cater to both personal and communal needs. 

The larger water filter, reminiscent of a bicycle pump in design, is tailored to meet the needs of communities and larger groups. Its robust construction and familiar form factor make it an accessible and user-friendly solution for communal water purification. Inside, it houses a high-capacity ultrafiltration (UF) cartridge, capable of efficiently removing contaminants and impurities from water sources. This cartridge is designed to handle larger volumes of water, making it ideal for supplying clean drinking water to multiple households, schools, health centers, or community water stations.
The smaller, portable filter is designed for individual use, offering convenience and ease of transport. Its compact body houses a durable hollow fiber membrane, capable of removing 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.99% of viruses from water sources, ensuring safe drinking water wherever one goes. 

On the other hand, the larger filter is intended for family or community use, providing a sustainable solution for purifying water on a larger scale. Both filters are designed to be easy to manufacture through injection molding, easy to repair and replace parts and intuitive to use, offering a convenient and reliable method for accessing clean drinking water. 
The system mimics the mechanics of a bicycle pump. Users simply needs to pump the system in a consistent up-down motion. It is a intuitive design, which is easy for users of all backgrounds and skill level. It is completely mechanical and easy to repair and thus wont fail in remote living locations with no technician nearby. One only needs to change the filter every 2 years. . 

Additionally, the maintenance requirements for the this are minimal. Users only need to flush the system out by backwashing occasionally to keep it in optimal condition. This simple maintenance task can be easily incorporated into regular usage, ensuring that the filter remains efficient and effective over time.

With no electricity required, its hand pump operation can deliver >10 liters of purified water in under 5 minutes, making it efficient and reliable even in off-grid locations.
Designed for ease of use, this compact filter requires users to hold it firmly to the ground while using their other foot to operate the pump. Pushing the head down causes water to be pulled up and then pushed through the membrane just like the bigger one. 

Its low profile ensures stability during operation, making it suitable for use on uneven terrain.
To collect water, users attach a hose to the filter's outlet, allowing them to direct the purified water into a container or drinking vessel. This setup maximizes convenience and efficiency, especially in outdoor environments for campers, trekkers,  military operations etc.
